Open & Closed Die Forging Hardware That Meets Your Needs

At CanForge, we believe that if you want to do a job right, you need to have the right tools. With more than a century of experience in the forging industry, we owe part of our success to having the right equipment to meet our clients’ specifications. As one of the premier forging companies in North America, we use state of the art technology for our open and closed die forgings. Our impressive list of machinery can meet the demands of the industries we serve, whether we’re forging products for aerospace applications or power generation.

Let’s look at some of the equipment we use to make our forging products.

Open Die Forging

The machinery in our Open Die forging plant allows us to manufacture forgings up to 40,000 lbs. To accomplish this, we use a variety of equipment that can deliver on our standards for quality forgings.

  • Hydraulic Presses

We run three hydraulic presses, our largest open die forging press is a 3300 ton pull down press. Using fluid to create a system that applies pressure, our hydraulic presses are used to manipulate our forgings into their desired shapes.

  • Manipulators

Manipulators are used to safely move our forgings during their production. A manipulator contains an arm with a clamp that assists with loading heavy forgings in and out of furnaces or on and off of presses.

  • Quench Tanks

We have three quench tanks in our heat treat department that are used in conjunction with our 4 heat treat furnaces.  This helps us to create forgings with the specific properties that are needed by our customers. Our oil and water tanks allow us to rapidly cool our forgings to meet these high standards.

  • Torch Cutting

Our equipment also includes torch cutters that we use to cut through forgings. These cutters enable us to cut many shapes and sizes and meet custom specifications. We use torch cutters to produce near-net forgings, which are products that closely resemble the finished product because of their precision.

  • Deep Hole Boring

Our deep hole boring mill is an essential tool when we forge products that require holes that are too small to forge. We are able to drill/trepan up to 8.00” in diameter and 200” in length.

Closed Die Forging

For closed die forgings, our equipment includes a series of air hammers that range from 2,500 to 10,000 lbs. These hammers use compressed air to shape the surfaces of the forgings and save time in production. We use these hammers to produce forgings for nuclear power components, construction machinery, and aircraft engines, just to name a few.

This is only a short list of the machinery we use for our high-quality open die and closed die forgings. With our vast experience working with many industries, we are confident that we have the equipment needed to meet your needs. Contact us to learn more about what we can forge for you.
